PRP1, one of the two main pumping stations in Avignon, feeds the town’s wastewater treatment plant via a DN800 cast iron and steel pipe, 280 metres of which is laid inside a DN1800 reinforced concrete duct and passes under a railway marshalling yard.
After excessive corrosion was detected at the waterline in this section of the steel pipe, it was decided to replace the pipe. The chosen solution consisted of supplying and laying a DN1200 RCCP (Reinforced Concrete Cylinder Pipe) network in place of the DN800 steel pipe.
The DN1200 pipes laid in the DN1800 duct have been designed with an external protective joint to avoid the use of external joints at the SL welded joints.
